Homemade chocolate

Did you make it at home when you were little? I know for some people it’s the dessert of childhood, often made at home. It reminds me of my childhood too, but we always bought it from the store. 😅
I don't know why I waited so long to make it. I think the powdered milk in the recipe scared me because I wasn’t sure where to find it. 😆 For some reason, I thought it was only available at the pharmacy. But guess what? I walked into the first store I found (a small one, not very big), and I actually found it! It was in the section with essences, baking powder, cocoa, and all that good stuff.

INGREDIENTS:

• 250g powdered milk;
• 50g cocoa;
• 100g butter 82%;
• 120g sugar;
• 120g water;
• 60g hazelnuts;
• a pinch of salt;
• 1 teaspoon essence of your choice (I used orange and I really liked the flavor).
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
1. I roasted the hazelnuts and chopped them into larger pieces.
2. In a bowl, I sifted the powdered milk and cocoa. I added a pinch of salt, the chopped hazelnuts and mixed.
3. I placed a high-sided pan on medium to low heat. I put the sugar and water in it. I mixed and let the sugar melt. When bubbles started to form on top of the composition (it started to boil), I looked at the clock and left it on medium to low heat for 4 more minutes.
4. I then turned the heat to low, added the butter and essence and mixed vigorously until I obtained a homogeneous consistency.
5. I transferred the liquid composition over the dry one and mixed.
6. I put everything in a tray lined with cling film, leveled it and left the tray on the balcony (in the cold) for a few hours.
7. I took the chocolate out of the tray, removed the cling film and cut it into 16 pieces with a wet knife.
Good appetite!
