Meatball sandwiches

I don't know why, but this dish reminds me of coffee shops in American movies. You know, those cafes on the outskirts of villages/cities where they serve filter coffee. 😁

MEATBALL INGREDIENTS:

• 500g minced beef;
• 1 egg;
• 2 slices of bread soaked in water, squeezed well and shredded;
• salt, pepper to taste;
• 1 teaspoon granulated garlic;
• 1 teaspoon granulated onion;
• 1 bundle of chopped green parsley;
• 1 teaspoon mustard.

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

1. I mixed all the ingredients and formed the meatballs (I got 11).
2. I placed the meatballs on a tray lined with baking paper and put the tray in the oven preheated to 200*C for 35 minutes. I flipped the meatballs to the other side after 20 minutes.

SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

• 250g tomatoes;
• 4 cloves of garlic;
• 2 tablespoons oil;
• 50 ml water;
• 6-7 basil leaves;
• 1/2 teaspoon flakes of chilli;
• 1 teaspoon sugar;
• 1/2 teaspoon salt.

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

1. I put the oil in a saucepan on low heat. When it got hot, I added the finely crushed garlic and chilli flakes. I tempered for ~ 1 minute.
2. I added the tomatoes, water, salt and sugar. I mixed and left everything on fire for ~ 15 minutes.
3. I turned off the heat, added the basil, and blended everything with an immersion blender.

OTHER INGREDIENTS:

• 1 baguette (or any other type of bread);
• 100g mozzarella;
• chilli flakes.

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

1. I cut the baguette into three pieces and sliced each piece in half lengthwise.
2. I spread tomato sauce on the baguette halves, placed the meatballs inside, added another 1-2 tablespoons of sauce over the meatballs, and sprinkled grated mozzarella and chili flakes on top.
3. I placed the sandwiches in a tray and bake them in the oven preheated to 200*C for 7-10 minutes, until the mozzarella melted and got a nice color.

Good appetite!
